A lot has happened in the 4 months since I posted that. I signed up for a free account with SkyCiv to model that truss. My model had 13 nodes and 23 members (which is more than the free account can cope with) but no worries because I wrote to SkyCiv and Paul was kind enough to give me a 14 day free trial of the entire SkyCiv suite, which I put to very good use – and could not have analysed this structure without such a modelling tool – so not “wasting my time at all”.
